Our Lady of the Immaulate Conception- patron of the USA.
Also, here's a link from 4 Real Forums that has a list of all the saints associated with each US state. Really neat! And if you're interested, here a website dedicated to American saints :-)

Thanks for this post, Lacy. Through one of the links about American saints, I found a new book title I'd like to look into, Heroes of the Cross: American Martyrology, from 1945. Lately, I've been fascinated by the martyrs of early American history, the French and Spanish missionaries in the 1500 and 1600s. We were not taught about this in school.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to write a book about how God has blessed this country and helped in its inception so we can all live according to His will and in freedom. Really, America is the only place on earth where people can still do this! Still working on the idea. Thanks for giving me one more lead. :-)
God bless America!
Wonderful Blog! Thank you for sharing your creativity.
ReplyDeleteWe have been taught that Our Lady of Guadalupe was the patroness of the Americas.
Thanks again,
Marie

There is also the "Mary and the 50 states" poster available for $10 at CatholicArtworks.com. A different pic and title for Mary is shown for each state, and the idea was taken from the bicentennial litany. Very pretty!

You are reading my mind Lacy! Great ideas that we will be incorporating into our "4th of July Seder" ( I got this phrase from a "Focus on the Family talk by a Jewish man who thinks that Christians should celebrate the Christian heritage of our country ;) ) I looked up the Patron of our State, Georgia. The patron is Immaculate Heart of Mary! I haven't done the tye dye yet so I am wondering if I can get the boys to make red, white, and blue Immaculate Heart shirts.... Still thinking... lol
