I'm going to the IHM Conference tomorrow! :-)

The National Immaculate Heart of Mary Conference is being held in the Northern Virginia area Friday and Saturday (June 10-11) and I'm going! (For anyone who doesn't know, it's a big homeschooling conference for Catholics). The actual conference is only about 20 minutes away from my house, so this decision to attend was a no brainer for me. So check it out- I made myself this super nerdy awesome Catholic Icing cupcake bag to carry!

Did you notice the little icing tips dangling from the bottom of the bag? That's my favorite part!

I love how they hang off of ribbons as if they're squeezing a yummy line of icing straight onto my bag. I figured that I may as well use my icing tips for a craft because I bought them almost 2 years ago and they were still in the box! Obviously I have big dreams for cake decoration that are never going to happen! ;-)

I also think the rick rack and the fabric paint are "icingish".

I had elaborate plans to sew myself a gorgeous ruffly bag... but I totally ran out of time so I bought a plain canvas bag from Jo-Anne's and decorated it myself. I painted on the cupcake with acrylic paint, wrote out "Catholic Icing" with 3D fabric paint, and everything else I just hot glued on. Ya, I'm lazy like that.

I made this bag because I had several people who were afraid to approach me at the Faith & Family conference because they weren't "sure" it was me, and as far as I know, I won't even be wearing a name tag. So now if you think you see me, and I have this bag, you can be sure and you can come say hi! I'd love to meet you! :-)

I'm really excited to go to the talks and meet the vendors! Plus, I'll be taking tons of pictures (what else is new, right?) and sharing my experiences with all of you right here next week. I'm also going to be attending with my mother-in-law (co-founder of Catholic Schoolhouse). If you're in the process of setting up a Catholic co-op or learning group of some kind, I would strongly suggest checking out their amazing resources! I'm so impressed with this program, and have been helping quite a bit with their art curriculum!

If you're going to be at the conference this weekend, leave us a comment to let us all know! Maybe we could even have a link up afterward if anyone else is going to write about it.

  4. You have no idea how much I would love to be there. How will you be able to decide what to go to. Also get those bags on sale. I need one!!

  5. I will be hard to decide what to do because there are a TON of talks, and
they happen at the same time and they don't seem to have any repeats. As far
as the bag goes, I don't ever actually sell crafts because I hate making
anything more than one time- lol! But I got the plain bag at Joanne's in the
embroidery section. I had a 50% off one item coupon, so I got it for $4! :-)

Love the bag!  You need to print this out on a t-shirt so everyone will know who you are and can say "hello".

I can see you selling these bags!  :)

  12. I can't imagine what happened here! I wasn't getting any email or your posts have not shown up in Google Reader since June 1. I was there and I missed you! If I had seen a reminder, I would have looked for you! Drat.

  13. I actually left telling my mother-in-law that I had really wanted to meet
you. I meant to email you with my cell phone number before leaving, but it
was just a crazy week. And as far as my feed... I have NO IDEA what
happened! My feed just stopped on June 1 and didn't send out anything! I'm
still having trouble with it and I have only gotten a partial feed to work
    for now. Sigh.

  14. Total bummer. I should have made a list of people I was planning on contacting. I made a mental note, but like you, it was totally crazy before and during.
