Crafts for the Chair of St. Peter

The feast of the Chair of St. Peter is coming up on February 22. You can read more about it here at Catholic Culture (a site that I love!). Here are some ideas for celebrating the feast of the Chair of St. Peter with kids. (Start by checking out some pictures of the Chair of St. Peter, then move onto some of these fun ideas!)

This stained glass window craft from By Sun and Candlelight
looks just like the stained glass window above the chair!!!
I couldn't love this craft more, and she posted great directions!

Try crafting a chair yourself to go in front of your stained glass
window. I love the idea of making one from a tissue tube!
I found these at Mid-Craft Crisis. (I think it goes without saying
to modify this craft- think less Barbie, more St. Peter). ;-)

Love this edible chair for this feast day celebration from
Catholic Cuisine! Adorable and easy- doesn't get better than that!

I love this St. Peter cake from Our Daily Life and Work!
She also suggests playing musical chairs. What a cute idea!

Find another Chair of St. Peter Round-up on Familia Catolica. Happy celebrating! If you have a minute, I'm still up for best Catholic blog and you can vote here daily. Thanks so much for all your support on facebook! You guys are the best! :-)

Papal Flag Idea for Kids

This week at our house is "P" week. P will be for prayer, priest, pope, papal flag, and St. Peter! The feast of the chair of St. Peter is coming up next week on February 22, so even for those of you not learning about the alphabet this should be a useful idea! ;-) As a learning activity to teach my kids about St. Peter and the Papal flag, we made this kid-appealing version:

As I'm sure you know, crossed keys are St. Peter's most popular symbol, and you can find them on the papal flag. See?

We started by making a batch of my favorite soft pretzel dough (yes, I do bake sometimes, and I even use yeast. Lol!) and we rolled/stretched it into long coils to shape some simple keys.

When they were baked we just set out some simple yellow and white paper and put the keys on. Use this opportunity to talk to your kids about the history of the Papal Flag, and also where the Papal Flag got it's colors! If I had some red yarn on hand, I would have wound it through the pretzels to look more like the flag, but I wasn't going to make a special trip for it.

Say a prayer for priests and the pope, then enjoy your pretzels! Now, go and bring excitement for the faith to your children through a fun Papal Flag treat! ;-) God bless!

PS. Please keep voting for Catholic Icing! Your computer can vote once a day! :-) Thank you so much!!!
