You're Invited to a Catholic Baby Shower- A Baby Shower of Roses!

St. Therese said "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses", and St. Therese is very well known for the roses she showers when you ask for her intercession through prayer!

It turns out that my sister-in-law (who's name is Teresa) is due with their first child on October 1- St. Therese's feast day! I've always thought it would be a cute idea to throw a Catholic baby shower, or a Catholic bridal shower with the theme "Shower of Roses" in honor of St. Therese, so now was my chance!

So I'd like to invite you to join me tomorrow, here at Catholic Icing, to see this "Baby Shower of Roses" in all it's detail!

Here's how you can make your own "Shower of Roses Invitations". (These would work for a baby shower, bridal shower, or a St. Therese party- perhaps something for the Little Flowers Girls' Club).

Start with some 10x10 scrapbooking paper (something with roses on it) and fold it in fourths.  Then trace a circle on it using a bowl, and cut them out.

For each circle, fold it in half, then fold it in half again.

Squeeze the paper in like so....

... and then crease the paper.

I cut out the umbrella trim from velum using
scalloped scissors, and attached with a glue stick.

Cut the umbrella sticks out of card-stock, and glue them on.
Finish by tieing a ribbon around the umbrella stick, and
embelishing the front with words or stickers. I used
mostly baby phrases printed on vellum.

I also included a Printable St. Therese Prayer Card in each
invitation, thanks to Catholic Convert! :-)

Here are my completed invitations before I mailed them!

Maybe by the time you're throwing your Shower of Roses,
the new Mother Teresa Stamps will be out. That would be awesome!

Hope you guys can join me tomorrow in seeing the decorations, food, games, and more! :-)

  1. How cute! You are amazing Lacy. I have a suggestion for a candy treat. There is Mexican candy called Mazapan. It is small round peanut butter treat. The wrapper has a rose on it. You can find them at Mexican Grocery Stores. I found some at 99 cents store.
