Easy Party Food Ideas for All Saints' Day- Downloadable Labels Included!

In an effort to make some easy snacks for our All Saints' Day party, I've been brainstorming ways to make every day food into cute Saint food. I did this a few years ago by attaching holy cards to bowls of food, such as a St. Francis holy card (Patron saint of animals) on a bowl of animal crackers.

This year I decided to take that a step further by making these free printable saint labels! Here are the ones I made:

"St. Isidore's Pumpkin Patch"- St. Isidore the Farmer is the
perfect saint to use for bringing in pumpkins! I used pumpkin shaped
candy corns, but any pumpkin treat could go with this label.

"Saintly Halos"- I paired this tag with Funyuns, but a healthier
alternative would be to serve some pretty pineapple rings.

"St. Francis' Friends"- aka, animal crackers. This would also be
cute served with Puppy Chow which is Y-U-M-M-Y!

"St. Nicholas Treats"- I kept this one generic on purpose.
That way you can either serve candy canes, or chocolate coins.

"St. Bernadette's Firewood"- Use with pretzel sticks or pretzel rods.
St. Bernadette was out collecting firewood the first time Our Lady
of Lourdes appeared to her. It would be cute to put them in a basket.

"Tonsure Treats"- This haircut is most well known on the
Franciscans. Think St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony. Pair this
label with mini chocolate doughnuts, or a chocolate bunt cake.

"St. James' Fish- Fresh from the Sea of Galilee!"
The Typo is now fixed on the downloadable version. Yay!
Pair this label with these easy fish in net snacks, or simply
use this label with Goldfish Crackers or Swedish Gummy Fish.

"Saintly Stigmata Sandwiches"- Make strawberry jelly
sandwiches. Cut them out with a hand-shaped cookie cutter,
and make a hole in the top so the jelly shows through.

"St. Cecilia's Musical Keys"- Just lay out cookies like piano keys. I
used small wafer cookies and squares of chocolate Hershey bars. If
you use larger wafer cookies, I would suggest mini Kit-Kat bars for
the black keys. By the way, this is the second use
I've found for this plate my husband said I would never use. ;-)

"St. Ambrose's Honey-Tongued Treats"- I paired this with
Bit-O-Honey candies, but you could also use honey buns,
honey comb cereal, or anything honey or bee related.

"Dr. Gianna's Saintly Soda"- These are for Dr. Pepper!
Ya'll knew Saint Gianna was a Doctor, right? You can print a
label for a 2 liter bottle, or individual labels for the small 7.5 ounce
cans by visiting my post about Saintly Soda.

I wasn't able to take pictures of everything, but here are a few
more ideas that come with free printable labels:

"Saint Juan Diego's Salsa Guadalupe!"- I was torn between this
or Guadalupe Guacamole... but I don't like guacamole.

"Mother Teresa Chips"- This label is supposed to go with blue
corn chips. Couldn't decide if these were too much of a stretch or not,
but the label is there if you want it.

"St. Gabriel's Trumpets"- a label for bugles.
Might I suggest chocolate peanut butter bugles? Yum!

"St. Therese's Little Flowers"- Use flower shaped butter cookies.
I really was going to take a picture of this, but my grocery store
was all out. How weird is that?

Now you're ready to download the labels and bring some cute food to an All Saints' Day Party! If you're throwing an All Saints' Day party, you can ask those who come to sign up to bring the foods in this post, then have the labels ready when they get to your house.

Print the labels onto card-stock, cut them out, and fold in half on the line. They can stand on your platters or tables like place cards.

You can't imagine the amount of ideas I've had running through my head for this post, and as I grocery shopped today. The rest of my ideas will have to wait until next year!

Embroider the Saints

As many of you know, my daughter is named for St. Therese, so I'm really excited about her feast day being right around the corner! I wanted to show you all this adorable St. Therese doll that Violet's Godmother made her for her baptism.
Isn't it the sweetest little thing? She also embroidered Violet's name and baptism date on the back.

First she embroidered St. Therese's outline, then
cross stitched it in. Here it is before it was cross stitched:

I thought this was such an amazing and meaningful baptism gift, and I know it is something for Violet to cherish. I love the fabric rose embellishments that St. Therese is holding!

This doll was based on Charlotte's embroidery pattern, and you can print your own Saint Embroidery Patterns from Waltzing Matilda for free! Isn't Charlotte great to post all the printable Catholic stuff she does? She has many saint patterns available including St. Michael, St. Clare, St. Francis of Assisi, and Mother Teresa to name a few!

Here are some things I've seen other bloggers do with these Saint Embroidery Patterns:

Yes, this is a little Saint Dress!
Found this over on A Pew All Our Own.

Here's a St. Cecilia doll from Running with Perseverance.

A Pew All Our Own also made a St. Genevive and a St. Clare
doll for Easter baskets and embroidered prayers on the backs.

And I love LoVE LOVE this Saint quilt from
Knit Together Designs! :-)

*Updated to Add this aborable Mother Teresa doll
from Joyfilled Family! I just want to hug her! :-)

If you start embroidering now you might have them ready to come marching in for All Saint's Day. God bless!

St. Therese Crafts, Printables, and Fun for Kids!

St. Therese's feast day is coming up on October 1. She is a well loved saint by many, and there are literally endless ways to celebrate her feast day. Here is a roundup of cute ideas to get you started with your St. Therese feast day plans :-)

St. Therese invented Sacrifice beads. Isn't that cool?!
The Little Ways has the history behind sacrifice beads,

They're really cute and come with 4 outfits!
*Updated to say* Whoops! This paper doll is actually
St. Teresa of Avila... but they're both from the Carmelite order.

Use your new paper doll to create this
St. Therese Game from Under Her Starry Mantle.

This printable Catholic coloring book from Relevant Radio
has some great pages including this St. Therese Coloring Sheet.

Catholic Convert has some free St. Therese Printable Prayer Cards
with the Rose Novena on them. I used them for my Shower of Roses!

Is this St. Therese Doll the sweetest thing you've ever seen?!
You can buy the crochet pattern for only $5 on Knit Together Designs.

Last but certainly not least, St. Therese Church has a whole page of
really cool St. Therese Crossword puzzles, Craft Ideas, and  much more!

Of course, St. Therese's symbol is the rose and her nickname was the "Little Flower" so any rose craft or flower craft would also be a great way to celebrate! I'm really excited about this upcoming feast day, and I wish I had the time to dedicate about 20 posts to it! :-)

Rose Cupcakes for St. Therese

When I saw these rose cupcakes over on I Am Baker, I knew they were just the right thing for my Baby Shower of Roses! And they really aren't as tricky to make as you'd think! These would be great to make for St. Therese's feast day (Oct 1) or St. Rose of Lima's feast day, which is coming up August 23!

I made my roses out of candy melts, and it worked perfectly! Although I made twice the roses I needed (to be on the safe side) we only broke about 5 of them while decorating the cupcakes! :-)

Start by melting the candy according to the package directions, and putting it into an icing bag so you can pipe with it. A sandwich baggie with a small hole cut in the corner will also work.

First pipe the pink rose buds onto parchment paper,
, then come back and add the green stems with leaves.

I made mine a few days before the shower.

When it was go-time, we just stuck them into the cupcakes.
It was that easy. And we seriously only broke 5 of them!

These cupcakes were a huge hit at the shower, and would be a fun project for St. Therese's feast day as well! I promise they weren't as hard to make as they appear, and they will put a smile on everyone's face! Happy Catholic Cooking! :-)

Catholic Baby Shower Idea- Shower of Roses!

Are you looking for a Catholic baby shower idea? Well, here's a baby shower I just threw for my sister-in-law! It was "Shower of Roses" themed, honoring St. Therese. "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses" - St. Therese of Lisieux.

So welcome to this "Baby Shower" of Roses! A baby shower thrown in celebration of new life, and also in theme of St. Therese! :-)

I made umbrella invites from rose scrapbooking paper.
They open up into a circle with the info on the inside.
They were mailed with a St. Therese novena prayer card.

The Corsage
Here is the new Mommy getting her baby corsage! I made the corsage from a bib, and 2 no-scratch-mits. I rolled them into "roses" and secured them with green electrical tape, then hot glued them together. I completed the corsage by tying a purple pacifier on with a bow, and adding some fake greenery.

Creating the "Shower of Roses"
To create a rose showering effect, we dangled fake rose buds from helium balloons. This was very affordable (you can get fake rose bouquets at the Dollar Tree). We had trouble with some of the rose buds being too heavy to float, so we tied 2 balloons each to those. The whole living room seemed to be showering roses!

The Centerpieces
The centerpieces were made from baby onesies, washcloths, and bibs rolled into "roses", secured with rubber bands, and stuck onto the greenary left over from the rose buds dangling from balloons. I arranged them with floral foam into flower pots from the dollar tree. We used these on the food table, and the gift table! (Find some directions for making baby rose bouquets here.)

Baby Shower Food
I wish I could take credit for this adorable watermelon baby carriage, but it was made by my other pregnant sister-in-law. We also made smoked salmon pinwheels (the whimsical swirl shape going quite nicely with the rose theme) and pink lemonade (keeping things as "rose colored" as possible).

The rose cupcakes were one of my favorite parts! I did put some time into making them, but it was totally worth it! Find the directions on how I made these rose cupcakes here.

"Little Flower" Shower Game
Any way that you can work flowers into this shower totally goes with the St. Therese theme because her nickname is the "Little Flower". I found these free printable shower bingo cards, but I had to block out the "bridal shower" part before printing them. You write in what you think Mommy will receive as gifts, and mark them off as she opens until you have bingo. This was a lot of fun!

More Decor
We filled the room with flowers as much as possible (pulling from other rooms around the house). Everything was sprinkled with fake rose petals (again, 200 for $1 at the Dollar Tree) and even this awesome rose tissue paper came from the Dollar Tree! Pink and purple in the same bag, too :-)

The Prizes
St. Therese invented sacrifice beads, so I thought they would make awesome prizes in keeping with my theme! I made the rose beads myself (as taught by the Clay Rosary Girl). Some of the strings are sacrifice beads, others are one decade rosaries. I love these little baby feet charms I found to put at the end of the strings! Find directions for making sacrifice beads yourself here.
Don't forget to have your guests use their new sacrifice beads to pray a decade of the rosary for mother and baby before leaving!

The Gifts
I made these Catholic baby novelty shirts for both of my pregnant sister-in-laws, and they were a huge hit! I posted directions on how I made the Catholic baby onesies here.

The Guests
We had a great turn out for this shower, and I think everyone had a pretty good time! What's a party if you don't have great friends to celebrate with you?

Everyone wore such great colors!
(Y'all might recognize the 2 girls on the far right-
Clare and Virginia, your 'guides' from the holy heroes videos!)

The 3 new baby girl cousins all together!
(The one in the middle is my little sweetheart!)

Click the link above to see more pictures of this shower! I wish I could run them all right here on the blog, but I have so many I know you'd get tired of scrolling! :-) Hope you enjoyed the shower- I know we did!
